Over 5,000 Expected At Sarawak Bridal Fair 2007
The Sarawak Bridal Fair is making a comeback this year with 5,000 visitors expected at the Sarawak Tourism Complex here from March 23 to 25.
Held for the third consecutive year, the fair attracted more than 3,000 to the Imperial Hall at Crown Square last year. Due to the centralised nature of the venue the organisers are confident of attracting a huge crowd this year.
Main organiser, Integrated FM Sdn Bhd facilities management consultant, Laik Heng Juan, said the three-day fair would act as a one-stop centre offering all key wedding products and services for plan-to-marry couples.
“Those planning to wed will be delighted with the latest products put up by the exhibitors at the fair. It is like a one-stop convenient centre for couples to-be to browse for information, quotation and maybe get special deals,” he told a news conference here yesterday.
Also present were Cahaya Teknologi post-production director Peter Eng, Laik’s assistant Cecillia Sim and Harbour Cruises and Events Group sales administrative Suanna Joseph Robi.
Laik added that the fair would also enable exhibitors to update themselves with other industry players providing complementary services.
He said that some 40 booths would be set up by various categories namely bridal house, photographic studio, jewellery, florist, hair salon, beauty salon, slimming, travel agent, hotel, cake house, printing, restaurant and video production house.
While door gifts had been prepared for the first 500 visitors, couples who registered themselves with Chocolate Graphics - one of the joint sponsors - would be entitled to a piece of chocolate specially designed by the company, he said.
He said the highlights of the event would include bridal showcase and fashion show and bridal car decoration competition.
“To complement an unforgettable wedding, visitors are also encouraged to sign up for a nine-hour course worth RM50 per couple offered by a non-profit organisation - Focus On The Family Malaysia.
Coordinator for Focus On The Family Malaysia (Kuching Branch) Matthew Ling said the course would come with a comprehensive handbook entitled ‘SmartStart: A Guide For Newly Weds’.
“The course will be conducted by a team of trained and certified facilitators to enlighten couples-to-be on key areas of marriage life.”
These key aspects comprised ‘knowing each other intimately’, ‘discovering our expectations’, ‘facing conflicts and challenges’, ‘communication’, ‘building sexual intimacy’ and ‘finance and the family’, he added.
Ling disclosed that the upcoming SmartStart marriage preparation course had been scheduled for July 7 and 8. Another seminar ‘It takes more than love’ would be held on April 7 and June 24 as prelude to the (SmartStart) course.
Meanwhile, exhibitors that have confirmed their participation include Focus On The Family Malaysia, I Bell Bridal House Sdn Bhd, Genesis Bridal Studio, France Taipei Bridal Palace, Hollywood Bridal Sdn Bhd, My Wedding Collection, Harbour Cruises and Events Group, Holiday Inn Kuching, Crowne Plaza Riverside Kuching, Astro, Siong Lian Enterprise, Banana Greeting, Cahaya Teknologi, Chocolate Graphics, Yu Lee Hong Motor Sdn Bhd, Idaman Dhoori Bridal and Slimming Sanctuary Sdn Bhd.
