Guidelines For Perfect Wedding Invitation Card
Wedding invitation card is usually not on the couple priority, there are several reasons for it:
1. They don’t want to spend too much time and money on it.
2. Intervention from the parents and/or relatives that want to take over the task and do as their own liking together with certain “laws” that they want to stick to.
3. They could get free cards from the restaurant/hotel that will be hosting their dinner reception.
4. They don’t really care because apparently it turned out that the wedding is not about them but more of their parents. Therefore they just simply pick a design that fancies their parents.
However, there are of course couples that are very particular about it because to them a wedding invitation provides the first indication to their guests that they will be getting married and provide the first impression to their guests about their special day. They make sure that their invitation cards match their personality and establish the tone that they wish to set for their wedding celebration.
Did you know that the invitation card that you had selected can influence the attires that the guests choose to wear, and sometimes influence the gifts that you will receive? It definitely will. For e.g. you sent out an invitation card with tropical design, your guest will have better ideas on your wedding theme and they will definitely turn up wearing colourful and casual clothings.
Usually the invitation planning started typically 3 to 6 months prior to the wedding day. However, there are also people that only rush to get it done 2-3 weeks before their big day. This is mostly done so when all the guests are locals. Usually this will create problems with filling up the blank seats or don’t have enough seats as the couples might have problem adjusting the seats last minutes and to give last minute instructions to the restaurants or hotels.
If you have more then 6 months to your special day, you should start now.
If you have less than 6 months left, don’t fret. There’s still time and I hope that with this guidelines, you will be able to get the perfect invitation in time to send it out.
- Ordering Wedding Invitation Card
Ideally wedding invitations should be ordered at least 3 to 4 months prior to the wedding date. The wedding ceremony date and location, as well as the reception time and location need to be confirmed prior to planning the order. Ordering the invitation as early as possible will provide sufficient time to send the invitations out to outstation guests. - Mailing Invitations
Normally, invitations should be mailed to guests approximately 4 weeks to 6 weeks prior to the ceremony. For outstation guests, this will help them in planning their travel arrangement. The earlier the better. - Number of Invitations Needed
Inviting 200 guests does not mean that you will need 200 invitation cards. Many of the invited guests will be married couples, single couples, and children who will not need their own invitations. Couples are typically included on a single invitations. This is when the guestlist comes in handy. - Ordering Extra Envelopes
When writing addresses for your invitations, it is likely that you will make several mistakes. Perhaps the handwriting doesn’t meet your standards, or you wrote the wrong address by mistake. It is best that you order 20% more envelopes than the number of invitations. - Respond Cards/RSVPs
Respond cards or RSVPs are sent to the guests so that they could indicate whether they will be attending your wedding, and the number of the invited guests to expect. It is important to indicate on the response card that they must return it at least two to three weeks prior to the wedding else they should give you a call about it. There are cases where response cards are often returned unsigned or illegible, it is a good idea to number or code each of the response cards on the back, that way you will easily track on follow up via phone calls.
Hopefully this post is helpful enough for you to decide on your wedding invitation card. All the best in planning for your wedding.
