Love The Ring, Not The Price Tag
A diamond ring is not cheap. However, there are still ways to save money on the ring. Cost is always an issue but I hope this tips that I share with you will be able to help you with your ring buying and to make it work between the two of you. Arguing about it is just not worth it.
1. Skip the big stone, go for smallers stones
Diamond is very nice, it’s many girls’ dream to own a diamond ring but if you have to cut down on your cost, you can opt for smaller diamonds instead of one big diamond. You must know that a 1 carat weight diamond will cost your thousands but if you opt for tiny pave diamonds that add up to just under 1 carat, you will save a lot! Up to 90%! The sparkles will be more too.
2. Select the right ring setting
The way a diamond is framed can have a major impact on how it looks. For example, a bezel gives the illusion of a larger stone, you can opt for slightly smaller stone that would look just as big. Learn more about various ring settings.
3. Choose the finishing
Platinum(white) or gold(yellow) are very popular choices for engagement and wedding bands. Platinum is more expensive but it’s far more durable. This is an important factor to consider as you will be wearing it everyday as it shows few nicks and scratches. Platimnun prong will hold the stone more securely. Many won’t opt for yellow gold because it’s believed that the gold will cast an unflattering light on the diamond. However, some like it as the hue is warm with traditional look.
4. Choose one ring will do
Don’t scream! Listen! When you really have budget issue, this is the way to do it. You can buy a simple diamond ring(refer to the above tips) as your wedding ring. For engagement ring you can always use a family heirloom as the engagement ring. That way, you don’t have to spend on two rings. Besides, the family heirloom will be unique, more meaningful and less expensive.
5. Opt for other stones
Other type of stones/gems that are below 1 carat is always cheaper than diamond. The saving can add up to 30%!
6. Go for band with no stones
Simple band made from gold or platinum or both or combination of various precious metals will do the trick also if you are not very particular about diamonds or gems, they are usually way cheaper also and it’s much practical for everyday wear and less maintenance required. With burglary, snatch cases on the rise, it’s best not to show off too much.
Consider all the factors, sit down and talk. I’m sure you will get a ring that will make everyone happy. Don’t be pressured to buy expensive ring if you can’t afford it. Marriage is all about understanding, compromising and complement each other, it’s not about the price tag of a ring.
