Breeze Magazine started in Kota Kinabalu back in 2008 and expanded its circulation to Kuching in January 2009 under the care of MerkWorld Sdn. Bhd. Since then, the magazine has established increasing number of loyal readers and fans in both Sabah and Sarawak.

Breeze Magazine is the lifestyle magazine available for free at favourite hangouts such as Starbucks Coffee, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, Piccadilly’s, Seattle Coffee & Tea, Mr. Ho’s Fine Foods and many restaurants, hotels and famous bars in Kuching. The magazine’s main focus is to report the happenings and fun activities in both cities – mostly events and parties. Apart from the events and parties, Breeze Magazine is all out to promote local East Malaysian talents and discover these talents through events and activities.

As part of the magazine’s launch in Sarawak, Breeze Magazine along with MerkWorld Sdn. Bhd., Intimate by NTPM and co-organiser Limkokwing Institute of Creative Technology will be organizing the first modelling competition ever organised locally by a local magazine in search for new faces to be featured on Breeze Magazine’s cover and fashion spreads.

The modelling competition called Breeze Model Search 2009 will be the chance for many who have the dream to become models (both male and female). This competition is not mainly for current part time models or professional models only but this competition is also open to those without experience but would like to give them the opportunity.

Interested individuals (both male and female) between the ages 16 – 30 can come to the official audition at Limkokwing Institute of Creative Technology, Borneo Campus located at Jalan Nanas from 24 – 25 April (10am – 4pm).

According to the organizing chairman of the model search, Ron Lim, the finalists for this competition will gain exposure from being featured on the magazine and their official media partners for the next four months. Aside from that, the finalists will be able to meet and learn from professional models such as Cassandra Patrick.

“This competition will be the platform for those who have always dream to become a model but never get that opportunity. The winners, one male and one female, will be featured on the cover and fashion spreads for September issue. I hope interested individuals will come forward to the audition and get spotted by the leading modelling agencies in the country,” says Ron.

Minimum requirement to be photographic model for Breeze Magazine may not necessarily be at least 5’7” tall but most importantly the facial expression and look. The contestants will need to learn how to sell products with just their facial expression and body language.

“We have a lot of talents in this state – famous singers such as Rynn Lim, Nicholas Teo and Dayang Nurfaizah, famous TV hosts such as Rashid Salleh and Belinda Chee, famous model like Stephanie Chai. I believe we can discover more talents and future models from Sarawak. I have true confident that we can bring more faces from Sarawak into the modelling industry – we just need more opportunities and now opportunity is here!” added Ron.
