Auspicious Dates for Wedding 2010
Ok… I just realized I forgot to post the auspicious dates for getting married this year. No worries, it’s only June, there’s still time. I know many people have not decide on a date yet. Going to posting it here to share it with you.

Really need your assistance.
My bf is French and I’m local Malaysian Chinese. I am from JB but both of us working in KL. We plan to have our ROM in JB [Zhong Hua (Chinese) Association in JB] in November 2010.
I have checked on JPN website and French embassy’s as well but apparently both procedures, requirements and timing are very different. I am getting very confused. French Embassy in KL requested a long list of documents and complicated procedures which is going to take abt 2-3 months before we could perform our ROM. They have further commented that there’s no way for us to have our ROM in Malaysia unless the French ROM is done first. I’ve called up to JPN but am afraid what they told us might not be reliable as you know how our govt operated. I just wanted to have second opinion and reassured myself that those information are reliable. Thus really need your expertise and advice on our case. My questions as below:
- One ROM is adequate? Or we need both?
- Is it possible to have our Malaysia ROM first before the French ROM?
- For our Malaysia ROM, is it possible to have it in Zhong Hua Association (Chinese) in JB instead of Putrajaya?
- Is it compulsory for us to have both Malaysia and French ROM simultaneously?
- Are we considered legally married if we only have ROM in Malaysia?
- Can we basically put aside the French embassy list of requirement and get our Malaysia ROM done first? And settle the French side at a later stage?
- We have a marriage contract in French language (from lawyer in France) to be signed-off by both of us. How we should go about it?
- Should we need to add in future assets distributon in the marriage contract, what we should do now?
- Possible to list down and explain in details all required documents according to sequence (step by step), what we need to do to have our ROM after all the above are clarified?
Thanking you in advance for the advice as you would probably be the only person that can enlighten us on the above confusion. JPN officers always have different version and extremely difficult to be contacted. I have spent so long hours researching for above questions, but to my disappointment, i still have yet a concrete answer till to-date as each party (Malaysia and France) always have different criterion.

1. ROM, one is enough, all you need to do is report back to the country of your origin with all the documents.
2. Just do it at one place whichever you think is convenient. Be sure to report it back within 6 months.
3. Usually have to do it Putrajaya or local JPN(requires extra application if I’m not mistaken), not association for marriage with foreigner.
4. Yes, you can. Do it in Malaysia then report back. Registration is only once. Report back is just to let the government update their database.
5. You must get it translated to BM but I don’t think it’s needed at all if you register in Malaysia. I assume the marriage contract is what you your future spouse agree upon which is considered a personal document in case if you are getting a divorce or something. Nevertheless, have it translated to BM might help in case something happen to the future.
6. I have no idea what is the marriage contract you are talking about. Do refer to my respond in 5.
7. I’m not sure of the actual procedure as I’m not the right person to ask as I am not related to anyone or any organisation related to this. I’m just posting whatever I know for the sake of sharing and my own reference. I’m just sharing based on what I’ve came across/experienced. So, just follow whatever the authority ask you to do, when you are not sure, just prepare everything they had asked you to just in case. Best way is go straight to JPN, talk to them face-to-face, I’m sure they have the form available and it contains the list of what you need to prepare. If you want to use phone calls to contact them, it’s hard to get what you want.
